I think it costs more. It’s not the same as a normal face-to-face appointment.
Telephone and online services are billed just like regular GP appointments (with some exceptions)
The new telephone and video services are required to be bulk billed for:
• patients who are more vulnerable to COVID-19
• children under 16 years old
• commonwealth concession card holders
If you fall into one of these categories, the government will reimburse the full cost of the telephone or video appointment and there will be no charge to you.
If you don’t fit into one of the categories above, a telephone or video appointment shouldn’t cost you any more than a regular face-to-face appointment. Any fees or charges should be discussed and agreed as normal before an appointment.
